Be the Change: Join Young and Inspired!

As you click on our “Support Us” page, you’re not just a visitor; you’re a change-maker. Whether you’re a dedicated supporter, passionate staff member, or enthusiastic volunteer, or potential supporter you possess the power to make a real difference.

In the face of immense challenges and a heightened cost of living crisis, it’s easy to doubt the impact of individual efforts. However, we draw inspiration from the Starfish Moral—join us in transforming one family at a time and be a part of something truly meaningful. Your contribution matters.

What our volunteers say

Growing up in a home where “not enough money” dictated every decision and discussion, life was incredibly challenging. Young and Inspired became my magical space—a place where I could have yogurt for breakfast, use as much paper as needed, enjoy warm meals daily, and revel in a fun, carefree atmosphere. It wasn’t just about the games or the abundance of friends; it was a community that didn’t judge based on family finances. However, my journey didn’t end there. As soon as I started babysitting as a teenager, I spent every penny and found myself in debt. In young adulthood and motherhood, my relationship with money became erratic, swinging to the opposite extreme of everything I vowed my child would never experience. The Savvy and Successful project, coupled with my personal Family Support Worker, served as my anchor. Fortunate to secure a placement and eventually a paid position as a secretary at Young and Inspired, I now work as a Development Officer. I share my story with other youth to illustrate that poverty isn’t a dead-end; it doesn’t have to be a perpetual cycle.”

Pearl Guttman, Development Officer Young and Inspired

“After chatting on the phone, you sometimes feel like you’ve made someone’s day just by calling. Some people think their issues aren’t worth bothering others, but when we check in regularly, they feel comfortable sharing. Plus, these calls help families who are a bit isolated to stay in the loop and hear about what’s on in the community and what services Young and Inspired have.”

Miriam M volunteer Family Advocate

“My daughter started volunteering at SuperEats after being encouraged by friends who saw it as a social opportunity. To my surprise, this experience brought out qualities I hadn’t noticed before. Previously, she reacted angrily to any intrusion into her space. SuperEats, unlike my attempts succeeded in teaching her genuine empathy, kindness, and acceptance. The culture of equality and kindness at Young and Inspired is unparalleled.”

What our service users say

“We have been struggling with money in our family for months now and we were not able to afford even the basics, but receiving charity was too degrading.  With the cost-of-living crises looming over our heads; it was not a question of Eat or Heat.  We had none. Resignedly we allowed our health visitor to refer us.  Being a part of SuperEats was life-changing.  Their meals are delicious, free and delivered right to our doorsteps.  The best part was that Young & Inspired thanked us for saving the planet and avoiding good food from going to waste.  It made us feel a whole lot better.  I cannot thank you enough!”

Dorothy, young parent

“I love the fun, the projects, the mood, the food. But the absolute best is the people. The heads speak to us like we are friends; the group leaders are sooo kind and funny. Esty, my volunteer, is yum, and my friends here are the best—better than everyone on Earth and Mars.”

Yitty, 9

“Young and Inspired is my safe place. When I feel my chest growing tight and throat filling with sawdust. I know a panic attack is imminent. But I think about Treehouse Teens, and I take a deep breath, I can resource all the skills I learnt and feel the safety surrounding me.”

Rosy B,15

“For some people food is food. For me, getting my meals at play scheme is security, safety, sanity.”

Shulumit,14

“The SuperEats meals truly saved my life during the postpartum period.  After the initial excitement of welcoming my new baby, I felt completely drained, depressed and too exhausted to pull myself together to cook. My husband had to look after the baby and take over and we lost his income. SuperEats provided me with nutritious and delicious meals which were exactly what I needed to regain some energy and overcome the depression.  Thank You!”

Esther, young parent
